The work 5 Tons was made in Seyðisfjörður, a small fisherman town in the East of Iceland. I got inspired by this environment and the society of people I got to know there. The work consists of two very different sequences, otherwise the physical movement of the overhead traveling crane which could carry 5 tons. And then the sequence of these mundane objects that fit together making the casual ritual of coffee.

 

The installation was a part of the exhibition NO SOLO at Skaftfell - Center for Visual Art in February 2016. The exhibition was curated by Björn Roth and Kristján Steingrímur.
